Harbourside
Role: Public Art Curator
Development: Harbourside, Sydney by Snøhetta + Hassel Architects
Client: Mirvac + PMNSW
As the public art curator for Harbourside by Snøhetta + Hassel architects for Mirvac and PMNSW, Amanda has provided Public Art Strategies for this State Significant development, and is currently curating a $7million program of public art throughout the mixed use development.
The public art vision for Harbourside is for art that champions progressive ideas provoking thought, challenging the status quo, sparking the imagination and adding meaning to our lives. The aim is for a range of public art that expresses multiple ways of seeing the world and better ways to move forward. Authentically relaying important stories from the past and illuminate conditions of the present, the public art is to act as a conduit for understanding, helping to regenerate Harbourside as a place that is once again loved, welcoming and inspiring.
The public art strategy for this important project has been inspired by place, the Mirvac and PMNSW Harbourside vision, Snøhetta + Hassell’s architectural and landscape design informed by Djinjama’s Connection with Country and Bila Group’s First Nations Cultural Heritage as well as consultation with stakeholders and the diverse local community.
As public art curator Amanda continues to work closely with Mirvac and PMNSW, the design teams at Snøhetta and Hassell and heritage consultants to drive, facilitate and manage the artwork commissioning process through to completion.
